FUTURE CORPSE/PRESENT  BODY (DEEP BREATH)

Hand dyed/spun + commercial aotton + wool, pulled warp cordage, stainless steel bowl.

Woven and unwoven while in residency at Tanglehaven (Troy, NY). While stewing in an unbeliveable amount of death I needed to weave hard, obliterate it, and bring it back to life. This is about vomiting into the treadles, flaying the body(cloth) and twining the entrails. Sticking my hands straight into the guts of it to let myself sense something again. It’s about rebirth and reanimation and reconstitution. It’s about letting myself make something about it and to feel through my shuttle. Loving and letting pass on until next time. Until I can let out this breath. 

Endless endless thanks to Eloise, Heidi, Eric, and the rest of the Tanglehaven crew that let me crash, burn, and weave while the rest of my life was falling apart. For Granddad.

Warp/Tabby Weft: Georgia Yarn Company 10/2 unmercerized cotton, Valley Yarns 10/2 unmercerized cotton. 20epi
Pattern Wefts: Assorted commercial and handspun fingering weight wools. Too many to count.
Modified version of draft 353 from Keep Me Warm One Night (pg. 259), improvised treadlings.
